Summary
Affixly is made by Haunted Keyboard Studio Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described here.
- Affixly has no advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- We never ask for your email address, contacts or location. The only name Affixly asks for is an optional one you can add to a Challenge Link.
- Your game data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account.
- We collect anonymous usage analytics to see which features are used. It is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.

Anonymous usage analytics
Affixly uses TelemetryDeck (TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany) to collect anonymous usage analytics. This is on by default. To turn it off, open Settings in the app and switch off “Share Usage Analytics”. It takes effect immediately.
What is sent:
- How long the main screens are open.
- Daily puzzle outcomes per slot: whether it was solved, how many hints and letter reveals were used, and whether it was a first attempt or a retry. The words you enter are never sent.
- Your current streak, as a range (for example “7-29”), never the exact number.
- Counts of feature use: creating a group (and whether Affixly Pro was unlocked at the time), tapping or accepting an invite, turning on group notifications, sharing a result, opening or comparing a Challenge Link, and keeping an App Clip result after installing the app.
- Whether usage analytics was switched off or back on.
- Basic technical details added by TelemetryDeck, such as the app version and iOS version, an hour-rounded timestamp, and an anonymised installation ID.
The installation ID is anonymised on your device before it is sent, and it cannot be traced back to you or to your Apple Account. TelemetryDeck states that it does not store IP addresses and does not use cookies, and that its servers are in the Netherlands and Germany. We only ever look at totals across all players. Because the data is anonymous, we cannot find, export or delete the data from one particular person.

Your game data and iCloud
Your puzzle results, statistics and drafts are stored on your device and synced through your private iCloud account, using Apple’s CloudKit. We cannot read anything in your private iCloud database. Apple processes this data under its own privacy policy.
You can manage or delete this data in your device’s iCloud settings. Deleting the app removes the copy on your device.
Groups
Groups are optional and use Game Center and iCloud sharing. If you create or join a group, the other members of that group can see:
- Your Game Center display name.
- Your score for each day, and the words you entered.
- When you joined or left the group.
This data is held in iCloud by Apple and is visible only to the members of that group. You can leave a group at any time, and a group’s owner can delete it.
Game Center
Affixly uses Apple’s Game Center for achievements and to identify players within groups. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. You can manage your Game Center profile in your device’s Settings.
Group notifications
Group notifications are optional and off by default. If you turn them on, we store two things on our own server so that we can tell you when a group member finishes the day’s puzzle:
- Your device’s push notification token.
- Your Game Center player identifier.
The server is hosted with Amazon Web Services in London, UK. Notifications are delivered by Apple’s push notification service, and include the group’s name and the display name of the member who finished.
Turning the setting off deletes your token from our server. A token that is not refreshed is deleted automatically after 180 days.
Daily reminder notifications are scheduled on your device and involve no server.
News from the studio
This is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, we store your device’s push notification token on our server so that we can send you an occasional notification when we launch a new game. We store nothing else with it: no name and no Game Center identifier.
The token is held on the same server as group notifications, hosted with Amazon Web Services in London, UK, and the notifications are delivered by Apple’s push notification service.
Turning the setting off deletes your token from our server. A token that is not refreshed is deleted automatically after 180 days.
Challenge Links
When you share a result as a Challenge Link, the link itself contains the puzzle day and your score breakdown. Your name is included only if you choose to add one. Anyone you send the link to, and anyone they forward it to, can see what it contains. We do not store Challenge Links on a server.
The Affixly App Clip, which opens when someone without the app taps a Challenge Link, sends no analytics.
Feedback and support
If you send feedback from the app, it opens an email in your own mail app, addressed to support@affixly.co.uk. Before you send it you can see and edit everything in it. Besides your message, it includes your app version, device model, iOS version, language and region, time zone, and whether Affixly Pro is unlocked.
We receive your email address because you emailed us. We use it only to reply, and only if you ticked the box asking for a reply. Your name and email address stay in our support mailbox and are never copied into our issue tracker. We aim to delete feedback emails within 90 days of dealing with them.
Purchases
Affixly Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app only learns whether Pro is unlocked.
Children
Affixly does not knowingly collect personal data from children. The usage analytics described above is anonymous. Groups, Game Center and iCloud are subject to the Apple Account and parental control settings on the device.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to how we use it. In practice:
- Usage analytics: switch it off in Settings. It is anonymous, so there is nothing we can look up for an individual.
- Game data and groups: it is in your iCloud. Manage it in iCloud settings, or leave or delete the group.
- Group notifications: switch them off in Settings and your token is deleted.
- News from the studio: switch it off in Settings and your token is deleted.
- Feedback emails: email support@affixly.co.uk and we will delete your messages.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
We will update this page when the way Affixly handles data changes, and change the date below.
